The Arthur Langford,
Jr. Teen Leadership Institute promises to be an exciting, enlightening
and empowering program. The Institute is sponsored by the United
Youth-Adult Conference II (U.Y.A.C.), an organization dedicated
to improving and making a difference in the lives of youth.
The late Arthur
Langford, Jr. was a devout community servant. He began his career
in politics as the youngest member of the Atlanta City Council
and later became a State Senator. Mr. Langford founded the United
Youth-Adult Conference as a means to bridge youth with adults.
The Arthur Langford, Jr. Teen Leadership Institute will commence
this summer to provide a forum for youth in inner city communities
of Atlanta. The Institute will prepare our youth for leadership
roles with emphasis on community service and civic responsibility.
Our theme is "Putting God First in the New Millennium".
The Institute's
goals are as follows:
- To provide training
for a new generation of leaders through a variety of approaches.
- To teach youth
how to build positive relationships.
- To allow youth
the opportunity to experience various forms of citizenship
through community service.
- To encourage youth
to become active in their schools and communities.
